Keeps You on Track
New for 2013 is an available Lane Keeping System, consisting of Lane Keeping Alert, Lane Keeping Aid and Driver Alert functions.
When activated by the driver, Lane Keeping Alert utilizes a forward-facing mono-vision camera mounted behind the rear-view mirror to begin looking for lane markers. If the vehicle approaches the outer boundary of its lane, the system vibrates the steering wheel, reminding the driver to pay attention.
Lane Keeping Aid works in concert with Lane Keeping Alert to gently add torque to the steering wheel to nudge the MKS back into its lane if the driver has drifted too close to the lane's edge.
Driver Alert is the third element of the Lane Keeping System. If the system detects a driving pattern typically exhibited by a drowsy driver, a first-level chime will sound and a friendly suggestion of a coffee cup graphic will appear on the left-hand 4.2-inch instrument cluster LCD screen.
Control Around Every Corner
Curve Control is a dynamic feature designed to help drivers maintain control if they inadvertently take a curve – such as a freeway off-ramp – too quickly. Curve Control senses when a vehicle is entering a curve too quickly, and can automatically apply the braking system to reduce vehicle speed by up to 16 km/h in approximately one second. The reduction in speed is often enough to help drivers follow their intended path.
Ready, Willing and Stable.
AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™)* is the industry's only electronic stability control system with two gyroscopic sensors — one of which is a unique vehicle-roll motion sensor that directly measures the vehicle's roll rate 100 times every second. Working in conjunction with the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), traction control and yaw control, AdvanceTrac with RSC uses the roll rate and other information to automatically determine when and how it will apply individual brakes and/or modify engine power to help keep all four wheels of Lincoln MKT firmly planted.

Attention When You Need It.
Additional peace of mind comes from the standard SOS Post-Crash Alert System™, which becomes operational in the event of airbag deployment or safety belt pretensioner activation.* If either of these occurs, the hazard lights flash and the horn sounds, so that you and your passengers may be more easily located after an accident. In this case, drawing attention to yourself is a very good thing.
* SOS hardware may become damaged or the battery may lose power in a crash, which could prevent operation. Not all crashes will activate an airbag or safety belt pretensioner
Assistance When You Need it Most
Available Collision Warning helps prevent common traffic accidents using forward-looking, long distance radar to identify potential obstacles.
When the danger of a collision is detected, the system warns the driver with an authoritative beep and a simultaneous red warning light projected on the windshield above the instrument panel.
These warnings should be enough to allow the driver to brake before a potential accident. Collision warning also provides emergency brake support which enables harder, quicker deceleration to help drivers stop or reduce speed to lessen the impact of a collision.
Surrounded by Safety
Truth be told, we'd like the six standard airbags in Lincoln MKT to stay under wraps. We're not trying to hide them. In fact, we couldn't be more proud. Our safety engineers lavished attention on the design and shape of each one. Driver and front-passenger coverage includes dual-stage front airbags and front-seat side airbags, while all outboard passengers benefit from the side-curtain airbags and rollover sensor in the Safety Canopy® System. In certain types of side-impact or rollover events, the side curtain airbags with roll-fold technology deploy from the headliner to cover all three rows.
Stop Safer
The four-wheel ABS and electronic brake force distribution (EBD) helps prevent wheel lockup during hard braking conditions. When computer-controlled sensors indicate wheel lockup during hard braking, the four-channel ABS electronically pumps the brakes several times per second, helping you maintain steering control.
Authorized Drivers Only
This system is activated by pressing the start/stop button to stop the engine and is designed to help prevent the engine from being started unless a coded key, programmed to your vehicle, is used.
It Can Handle the Pressure
When the tire pressure goes below the recommended tire inflation level,* a warning lamp is displayed along with a corresponding notification in the message centre.

The Luxury of Limits
The MyKey™ allows you to program a restricted driving mode on one standard key supplied with your vehicle or any programmed spare key to promote good driving habits. You can limit top speed or select speed alert chimes each time the vehicle speed reaches 72, 88, or 105 km/h. With MyKey you may also limit volume of the audio system to 44 percent of its maximum output. Safety features like the Belt-Minder® System cannot be disabled, and the audio system will be muted whenever Belt-Minder is activated.
