The 2012 Lincoln MKZ has six standard airbags, which are strategically placed to help provide protection to you and your passengers.* There are dual-stage driver and front passenger airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags, and first- and second-row side-curtain airbags with exclusive roll-fold technology that are designed to deploy between you and the window. MKZ Hybrid also features a driver's knee air bag.

The Utmost in Safety Measures

Specific structural areas of the MKZ safety cage are strengthened against intrusion. Others are designed to absorb crash energy and channel it away from occupants. And inside, occupant-protection systems help keep you and your passengers safe. Other standard safety features include the SOS Post-Crash Alert System™ and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

Confident Stopping

Lincoln MKZ features standard four-wheel ABS and electronic brake force distribution (EBD) to help prevent wheel lockup during hard braking conditions. When computer-controlled sensors indicate wheel lockup during hard braking, the four-channel ABS electronically pumps the brakes several times per second. As a result, this system can help you maintain steering control.

Forget the Key - Use the Code

You don't have to dig for your keys anymore. The keyless entry keypad on the driver's door lets you unlock the doors and the trunk, and activate/deactivate the autolock system.

The ABCs of ESC

With sophisticated sensors to measure oversteer and yaw, standard AdvanceTrac® ESC (electronic stability control) with brake-actuated traction control helps improve management of slippery surfaces like snowy, muddy, wet or gravel roads. Constantly monitoring vehicle speed, throttle position and steering wheel angle, AdvanceTrac ESC automatically modulates engine power or selectively applies the brakes if it senses wheel slip or loss of traction - helping you stay on your intended path.*

Keep Your View Crystal Clear

The 2012 Lincoln MKZ earned five stars* - the highest possible score - from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in frontal crash testing. The test, in which a vehicle is crashed into a fixed barrier at 56 km/h, simulates a head-on collision between two similar vehicles, each moving at 56 km/h.

Drive Safer, Even When In reverse

In vehicles equipped with the available Navigation Package, the image from the rear view camera is displayed on the vibrant 8-in. screen of the Navigation System whenever Lincoln MKZ is put in Reverse. Integrated sight lines even give you a handy reference point as you're backing up.
