Ford TorqShift® HD 6-Speed Automatic

The Ford-built TorqShift HD is the only transmission you need with either diesel or gas power.

 

  • Big, strong gears take on extra torque, requiring fewer rpm because the torque converter locks up at lower engine speeds.
  • SelectShift® feature with two driver-initiated modes: Progressive Range Select - limit the range of gears to lock out overdrive for consistent speed over hills; Full Manual mode - go all the way up and down the gearbox to put you fully in control.
  • Selectable tow/haul mode that compensates for grade and load and reduces gear hunting, improving power delivery (gas and diesel engines).
  • Engine-exhaust braking function to improve control on downhill grades and minimize brake wear (diesel engine only).
  • Available Live-Drive Power take-off (PTO) provision available: stationary, mobile and split-shaft-capable modes with diesel; stationary mode with gas power.

Available Live-Drive Power Takeoff (PTO)

If you operate a snowplow, aerial lift, hydraulic hoist, pump or other power equipment, the Ford-built TorqShift® HD 6-speed transmission offers available PTO capability with either the 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8 or the 6.8L gas V10. The diesel engine is tested and designed to crank out

300 lb.-ft. of stationary torque. The PTO output gear is directly linked to the engine crankshaft, so power is available anytime. Three modes include stationary, mobile and split-shaft-capable on diesel models. On the 6.8L Triton® V10 gas engine, stationary mode is available.
