Class-Exclusive 6.8L Triton® V10 Gas Engine

Only Ford Medium Duty trucks offer a gas engine* — the 6.8L Triton® V10 available in straight-frame truck models. That’s good news for a company or municipality on a tight budget needing Class 6-7 capability. The 6.8L has a lower purchase price than a diesel, and can supply all the power you need with its 320 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. And a CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package is available for conversion to compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane autogas. Also, if you operate power takeoff (PTO) equipment, the Ford-built TorqShift® HD 6-speed automatic transmission offers available power takeoff provision with stationary and mobile modes.

Ford Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8 Engine

The 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8 offers best-in-class standard 270/675* as well as optional 300/700 and 330/725 power ratings (horsepower/torque). The 6.7L was tested to over 800,000 simulated customer kilometres. This kind of testing contributes to a B10 design life of more than 800,000 kilometres**. The unique inverse-flow design locates the turbocharger between the cylinder heads and the top of the block, with the exhaust manifold inboard and close to the turbo, for faster air displacement and greater power. The driver-activated engine exhaust braking restricts exhaust flow to create back pressure for seamless braking and reduced brake wear on downhill grades.

TorqShift HD 6 speed automatic built by Ford

Ford TorqShift® HD 6-Speed Automatic Transmission

The Ford TorqShift® HD 6-speed automatic transmission is specially designed with a 3-plate/2-stage torque converter and gearsets strengthened with extra pinion gears to handle the heavy demands of the V8 turbo diesel and V10 gas engines. The SelectShift® feature has two modes: Progressive Range Select that limits the range of gears to lock out overdrive, plus Full Manual control. Another feature is Tow/Haul. On an uphill, it selects the gear that minimizes gear hunting; on a downhill, it prevents upshifting and an increase in speed, reducing reliance on brake pressure to slow down. And the TorqShift offers available live-drive takeoff provision with stationary and mobile modes.

Advanced Fuel Options (Gas)

The 6.8L Triton® V10 gas engine offers a CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package for conversion to compressed natural gas or propane autogas. Both are effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Included are hardened engine intake valves plus exhaust valves and valve seats*. Also, the 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8 is B20 capable.
*Vehicle will be equipped with the standard factory gasoline fuel system. This package does not include compressed natural gas/propane fuel tanks and lines, etc. See your dealer for details.
