Powered for the road you choose to take.

Some drivers want maximum fuel efficiency, while others desire more punch at the pedal. That’s why the 2017 Ford Escape offers three engine choices: the 2.5L with intake variable cam timing (iVCT), standard in the Escape S (FWD); the highly efficient 1.5L EcoBoost® 2 , standard in Escape SE, and available on Escape S (4WD); and the higher-performance 2.0L Twin-Scroll EcoBoost® engine is standard in the Escape Titanium, and available in the Escape SE. Both EcoBoost® engines feature Auto Start-Stop technology. And now, thanks to this year’s increased 61.7L fuel tank capacity, you enjoy more time on the road and spend less time at the pump.

Available 2.0L EcoBoost®

The 2.0L Twin-Scroll EcoBoost® engine, available on SE and standard on Titanium, offers impressive performance to accelerate your adventure plus Auto Start-Stop Technology to help increase efficiency and reduce emissions. The 2017 Ford Escape 2.0L EcoBoost® features an advanced Twin-Scroll turbocharger designed to transfer high-pulse energy to the turbine wheel, resulting in ultrafast time-to-torque for instantaneous power on demand.
1.5L EcoBoost®

1.5L EcoBoost®

Standard on the Ford Escape SE and available on the S (4WD) model, the 1.5L EcoBoost® is designed to be the most efficient Escape engine2 . It combines two technologies – turbocharging and direct injection. It also features Auto Start-Stop Technology to help reduce emissions and conserve fuel.

Available Auto Start-Stop Technology

The efficiency-minded attitude of the Ford Escape goes further with the addition of available Auto Start-Stop Technology*, which can help reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emissions during city driving. While the vehicle is stopped, the engine automatically shuts off and then seamlessly restarts when you step on the accelerator or when your foot leaves the brake pedal. And less waste equals better for the environment. Included with the available 1.5L and 2.0L EcoBoost® engines.

2.5L iVCT

2.5L iVCT

The 2.5L engine in the Ford Escape S (FWD) model features intake variable cam timing (iVCT) technology. By varying valve timing along the entire power curve to suit the driving condition, iVCT helps improve performance from low-end acceleration to high-end cruising.
6-Speed Automatic Transmission with Paddle Shifters

6-Speed Automatic Transmission with Paddle Shifters

You don’t have to know how to drive a manual transmission or learn how to master a clutch to enjoy the sporty feel of shifting gears. Using race-inspired technology, the steering wheel-mounted paddles provide an engaged driving experience by letting you easily and quickly go from gear to gear without taking your hands off the wheel.
* Steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters are not available with the 2.5L iVCT Engine.
Torque Vectoring Control

Torque Vectoring Control19

Torque Vectoring Control continually balances the distribution of engine torque to the front wheels based on driving conditions and available traction. Balancing the torque delivery helps the Ford Escape stay on your intended path, especially when navigating wet or slippery surfaces. In cornering situations, the system automatically applies the brake on the inside front wheel, effectively delivering more torque to the front outside wheel and enhancing handling19 .
