Simply ingenious

2017 Ford Flex makes life on the road smarter and more convenient with a host of optional amenities. BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert can identify a vehicle entering your blind spot and alert you to its presence10. Adaptive cruise control not only maintains your set speed, but will also slow the vehicle when it detects traffic slowing ahead10.  With active park assist, Flex virtually parallel parks itself with a few simple steps on your part9. Intelligent Access with push-button start allows you to unlock and start the vehicle while your key’s in your pocket. When activated, rain-sensing wipers80 automatically clear your windshield of precipitation10.

Active Park Assist

Available Active Park Assist9

Available active park assist is designed to help make parallel parking a breeze. While driving slowly by parking spots, simply activate this feature and it scans for available parking spots. Ultrasonic sensors measure the distance to the curb and other parked cars. Once a big enough spot is identified, you’re signaled to stop and accept the system’s assistance. You control the shifting, accelerating and braking9 .

Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start

Simply have the available Intelligent Access key in your pocket or purse near the driver’s door (the system senses when the key is nearby). Then touch the door handle to unlock the door. Once inside, just press the brake pedal and then the start button. Shift into gear and go. Standard on 2017 Ford Flex SEL and Limited.

Available BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert10

Available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert10 helps make driving more convenient. It uses radar to identify if a vehicle is detected in your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the appropriate exterior mirror. Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you as you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway. If cross-traffic sensors detect a vehicle approaching from up to 13.7 metres (15 yards) away, you will be audibly and visually alerted10 .

Available Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support10

Available adaptive cruise control10  functions just like traditional cruise control—with one important difference. When the radar detects traffic slowing ahead, your vehicle also slows down. And when traffic has cleared, your vehicle resumes the set speed. Available collision warning with brake support can alert you if it senses a potential collision with the car in front of you 10 . A heads-up display, which simulates brake lights, flashes on the windshield and provides an audible warning. If you don’t react in time, the brakes will pre-charge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you do brake 10 .

MyKey® technology, standard in every Flex, lets you program individual keys so that two members of a household can share a car, yet have personalized settings take effect when they use their unique keys. It lets you designate a key to operate special features, such as restricting the vehicle’s top speed to 75, 90, or 105 km/h and limiting the entertainment system’s audio to 45 percent of maximum volume. Low-fuel warnings are displayed in the message centre, followed by a chime. MyKey provides low fuel warnings earlier than non-MyKey to give MyKey drivers more time to refuel. It also sets the Belt-Minder® to chime, while muting the audio system, until the safety belt is buckled.
