Ford TorqueShift® HD 10-Speed Automatic Transmission

The Ford TorqueShift® Heavy-Duty 10-Speed Automatic Transmission, standard on diesel models, leverages the proven performance of the Super Duty 10-Speed TorqueShift transmission. It has design efficiency and upfit ease with the same chassis footprint as the TorqueShift HD 6-Speed. Compared to the 6-speed, it offers smaller gear step ratios for more efficient, smooth operation without an RPM drop-off, as well as shorter first and reverse gear ratios for heavier applications on soft surfaces to get the vehicle moving even quicker.

Ford TorqueShift® HD 6-Speed Automatic Transmission

The Ford TorqueShift® Heavy-Duty 6-Speed Automatic Transmission is specially designed with a three-plate/two-stage torque converter, strengthened gearsets and extra pinion gears to handle the heavy demands of the 7.3L V8 gas engine. The SelectShift® feature has two modes: Progressive Range Select, which limits the range of gears to lock out overdrive, and full manual control. Another useful feature is Tow/Haul: on an uphill, it selects the gear that minimizes gear hunting; on a downhill, it prevents upshifting and increase in speed, reducing reliance on brake pressure to slow down. And the TorqueShift offers the available live-drive Power Take-Off (PTO) provision with stationary and mobile modes.

Dana Rear Axle Options

Ford Medium Duty trucks offer axle options* from Dana, such as the 23,000-lb. (10,400 kg) Spicer® rear axle, available on F-750 models. Dana Spicer rear axles use GenTech gears for quiet operation and offer available synthetic lube for durability.

Alternator Choices

F-650/F-750 trucks offer a wide range of alternators, starting with the standard 200 amp (diesel) or 210 amp (gas) and optional 240 amp (gas and diesel) alternators. For jobs that require extra power, there are available heavy-duty dual alternators. The 7.3L gas V8 engine offers 240 amp/157 amp dual alternators for a combined 397 amp output. The 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine offers 200 amp/157 amp dual alternators for a combined 357 amp output.

Advanced Fuel Options

Compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane autogas are advanced alternatives to unleaded gasoline with the CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package, available on the 7.3L V8 gas engine. For diesel trucks, the available 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel is B20-capable (20% biodiesel, 80% petrodiesel).
