Creating a Backup Start Passcode for Phone As A Key

Creating a Backup Start Passcode Immediately After Setting Up Phone As A Key
To create your Backup Start Passcode immediately following the Phone As A Key set up process, follow the steps below.
Access your vehicle and ensure you have your key fob with you.
Important:- The key fob presence is required when setting up your passcode.
- It serves as an additional layer of control and authentication to ensure the person setting up the passcode has the authority to do so.
- Safely enter your vehicle.
- Ensure that your vehicle is on, running, parked, and in a well-ventilated safe area.
Note: On your SYNC touchscreen, you will be presented with the option to create a Backup Start Passcode.
- Tap Yes to continue.
Note: An instructional screen with setup requirements will appear.
- Select Continue.
Note: If more than one Phone As A Key device is detected, you must select which one you want to back up.
- Enter your preferred passcode.
Note: Your passcode must meet the system requirements, which are at least six characters of letters, numbers, and special characters or 10 characters if using all numbers. As examples, the following would be acceptable passcodes:- Ford1
- 2569013473
- Re-enter your passcode.
Note: A popup displays the completed and remaining steps. You may also create a new door keypad code at this time. If you choose to create a new door keypad code, you will be prompted to enter the code on the screen twice.
- Tap Finish.
Creating a Backup Start Passcode at a Later Time
To create your Backup Start Passcode sometime after setting up Phone As A Key, follow the steps below.
Access your vehicle and ensure you have your key fob with you.
Important:- The key fob presence is required when setting up your passcode.
- It serves as an additional layer of control and authentication to ensure the person setting up the passcode has the authority to do so.
- Safely enter your vehicle.
- Ensure that your vehicle is on, running, parked, and in a well-ventilated safe area.
- Tap the Vehicle button on your SYNC touchscreen.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Backup Start Passcode.
- Press Create Backup Start Passcode.
- Select Continue.
Note: If more than one Phone As A Key device is detected, you must select which one you want to back up.
- Enter your preferred passcode.
Note: Your passcode must meet the system requirements, which are at least six characters of letters, numbers, and special characters or 10 characters if using all numbers. As examples, the following would be acceptable passcodes:- Ford1
- 2569013473
- Re-enter your passcode.
