F-150 Lightning Towing FAQs

Choose a question from the drop-down options below to learn more about towing with a F-150 Lightning truck.

What is the towing range of the F-150 Lightning?

There are many factors that affect towing range, which is why we created Ford-exclusive technology like Intelligent Range to give you more accurate vehicle range calculations in real-time.

Smart technologies take those factors into account, along with cloud-connected data from other F-150 Lightning owners, to calculate highly accurate range information, especially in areas you have never driven.

How much can the F-150 Lightning tow?

The standard-range F-150 Lightning has a maximum of 7,700 lbs. tow capacity in the XLT and Lariat models with the optional Max Tow Package. The extended-range F-150 Lightning has a 10,000 lbs. towing capacity with the optional Max Tow Package installed.

Will towing significantly reduce battery range?

Electric trucks experience the same range degradation that we see when towing with traditional gasoline-powered internal combustion engines. Factors that affect fuel economy and range include:

  • Trailer weight
  • Wind resistance
  • Traffic speed
  • Weather
  • Route topography
  • Driver habits

The main difference with electric trucks is how drivers adapt to understanding range information and recharging, using tools like Intelligent Range, versus using a traditional gas gauge.
