What is the FortisBC Power Hour Rewards Charging Program for Ford Drivers?

Ford electric vehicle drivers can get rewarded by FortisBC for charging their electric vehicle at home during times that are less busy: during the hours of 9pm to 4pm the next day.* With your consent, Ford will share enrolling customers’ contact information and enrolled customers’ EV charging data with FortisBC to facilitate initial enrolment and ongoing participation in the program.** For each charge session completed between the hours of 9pm and 4pm the next day, FortisBC will provide a $0.50 on-bill credit.

What information does Ford share with FortisBC?

Ford and FortisBC share the following information:

Personal Information

  • Home address
  • Utility account number
  • Utility account holder name (if provided) 

Vehicle Information

  • Vehicle make and model
  • Battery size
  • In-vehicle charger capacity

Per Session Charging Data

  • Plug-in/unplug date and time
  • Charge start/end date and time
  • Scheduled charge start date and time
  • Maximum charge power
  • Energy consumed
  • Starting/ending state-of-charge
  • Charging rate during the charge session
  • Location data

Note: No aggregated charging data is shared.

What is required to participate in the FortisBC Power Hours Reward Program? 

To participate, you must:

  • Own or lease one of the following 2021 and newer model year all-electric or plug-in hybrid Ford vehicles:
    • Mustang Mach-E.
    • F-150 Lightning.
    • Escape Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).
  • Authorize the vehicle modem and maintain an active modem and connected services setting in your vehicle.
  • Use the Ford app®† to manage your vehicle’s charging settings in accordance with program requirements.
  • You must be a FortisBC residential electricity customer.

    Note: The FortisBC Power Hours Rewards Program is currently not available to municipal electricity utility customers of Summerland, Penticton, Grand Forks and Nelson Hydro. 
     
  • You must live year-round in your principal residence within FortisBC’s service territory.

What incentives does FortisBC offer?

FortisBC is providing a: 

  • $25 incentive credit on your electricity bill once enrollment is confirmed.
  • $0.50 bill credit for each charging event between the hours of 9 p.m. 4 p.m. the next day.

    Note: FortisBC defines charging events as any time a vehicle consumes 0.5 kWh or more during one continuous charge while at home.
