How do I connect SYNC to a Wi-Fi network?

You can connect a Wi-Fi® network to SYNC®* by entering the network password into the SYNC system. 

Connecting SYNC to Wi-Fi

Important: Ensure that your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area, and it is in Park (P).

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below. If your SYNC generation is not listed, it is not capable of connecting to a Wi-Fi network.

Notes: 

  • If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.
  • Actual screens may vary. See your Owner’s Manual for information specific to your vehicle.

SYNC 4A

  1. Tap Settings or the Home icon (varies by software version) on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Press Settings.
  3. Select Connectivity.
  4. Tap Manage Wi-Fi Networks.
  5. Toggle the System Wi-Fi slider to On.
  6. Press View Available Networks. Your system will display available networks. You can also search for hidden networks by selecting Add a Network.
  7. Choose an available Wi-Fi network
  8. Enter the network password if prompted.

When you are connected, a Wi-Fi Connectivity icon will show on your SYNC screen. After you add a network, your vehicle will automatically connect to it when in range.

SYNC 4

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Connectivity.
  3. Tap Manage Wi-Fi Networks.
  4. Toggle the System Wi-Fi slider to On.
  5. Press View Available Networks. Your system will display available networks. You can also search for hidden networks by selecting Add a Network.
  6. Select an available Wi-Fi network
  7. Enter the network password if prompted.

SYNC 3

  1. Press Settings
  2. Scroll to the right and select Wi-Fi & Hotspot.
  3. Select System Wi-Fi
  4. Toggle the Wi-Fi slider to On.
  5. Select View Available Networks.
  6. Select a Wi-Fi network from the list of networks that display. 
  7. Enter the Wi-Fi network's password, if prompted. 

When you are connected, a Wi-Fi Connectivity icon will show on your SYNC screen. After you add a network, your vehicle will automatically connect to it when in range.
