How do I set the clock with SYNC?

You can adjust your Ford vehicle's time through the clock settings of your SYNC®* system.

Changing the Time on Your Clock

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to adjust the time and settings of your vehicle's clock. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.

SYNC 4A

To set the time:

  1. Choose either the Home or Settings icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Clock Settings.
  3. Use the arrow buttons to adjust the time.

To adjust automatic time change settings:

  1. Choose either the Home or Settings icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Clock Settings.
  3. Toggle the Automatic time zone update slider to your preference.

To set the time:

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Choose Clock Settings.
  3. Use the arrows to adjust the time.

To adjust automatic time change settings:

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Choose Clock Settings.
  3. Toggle the Automatic time zone update slider to your preference.

  1. Choose Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Clock:
    • Set the time using the plus sign (+) or minus sign (-).
    • Pick AM or PM.
    • Choose a clock format (12-hour or 24-hour mode).
    • Turn on Automatic Time Zone update (for navigation-equipped vehicles).
    • Set the clock to GPS time (for navigation-equipped vehicles).

SYNC with MyFord Touch®

  1. Choose the clock display on top of your SYNC screen.
  2. Select plus sign (+) or minus sign (-) to adjust the time.
  3. Choose AM or PM.
  4. Use the up and down arrows to set your preferences:
    • Set the clock display (date or time).
    • Reset the clock to GPS time (for vehicles equipped with navigation).
    • Display outside temperature.
    • Toggle the Automatic time zone update slider to your preference.
    • Choose a clock format (12-hour or 24-hour mode).

SYNC with MyFord

  1. Select the Clock button on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Use the center arrow controls to move between options and set time.

Depending on the system, some options may appear slightly different. If the above steps do not work:

  1. Select Menu on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Choose the up and down arrows to scroll options.
  3. Pick the right arrow to enter the menu and the left arrow to exit.
  4. Select OK to confirm
  5. Scroll to Clock settings and choose one of the following options:
    • Set Time: Select to set the time.
    • Set Date: Select to set the calendar date.
    • 24h Mode: Select to view the clock time in a 12-hour or 24-hour mode.

SYNC Gen 1 (Without Navigation)

Refer to the table below for instructions to set the time based on your SYNC system's button configuration.

  1. Press and hold the CLK button until the hours start to flash.
  2. Adjust the time using the up/down or left/right arrows.
  3. Select the CLK button to exit clock setting mode.
  1. Select Clock. The display will read “Set Time.”
  2. Enter the time in hours and minutes using memory preset number buttons.

SYNC Gen 1 (With Navigation)

Setting the Time

  1. Select the physical Menu button.
  2. Choose the Clock tab on your vehicle's touch screen.
  3. Select the plus sign (+) or minus sign (-) to increase or decrease the time, and then select AM or PM. 

Optionally, you can:

  • Turn the Clock Display on/off by pressing the On or Off button next to the Display Clock.
  • Select a 12-hour or 24-hour format by pressing the 12-Hour or 24-Hour button next to Format.
  • Choose the Reset button next to Restore Defaults (synchronize with GPS) to reset to default settings.

Notes:

  • If Auto Time Zone is enabled, the system will automatically adjust when you enter a new time zone.
  • The system does not implement daylight savings time. You must manually adjust the time.

Setting the Date

  1. Go to the Clock menu.
  2. Select the Reset button next to Restore Defaults (synchronize with GPS) to reset to default settings.

Viewing the System Calendar

  1. Choose the “i” physical button.
  2. Select the Calendar tab on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  3. Use the left and right arrows to select a month.
  4. Select Go to Today for today’s date.

*Do not drive while distracted or while using handheld devices. Use voice-operated systems when possible. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.
