How to Set Up Ford Phone As A Key*
Phone As A Key delivers the functionality of a traditional key fob — the ability to lock/unlock doors, remote vehicle start/stop and operation, and liftgate control from the convenience of your smartphone, all with the FordPass™ App.** In the app, you can create and manage up to four virtual keys with a few simple steps.
PROGRAMMING YOUR PHONE AS A KEY
To program your smartphone as Phone As A Key:
- Visit your device's app store to download the FordPass App
- Create or sign in to the FordPass App
- From your parked vehicle, follow the prompts on the vehicle’s touchscreen and press Yes. The mobile app will then verify the connection is valid and remote capabilities are active
- From your FordPass home screen, press Set up Phone As A Key
- Press Set Up Now
- Input your FordPass password
- Give your virtual key a name like “Jason’s phone” and press Next
- Connect your vehicle’s Bluetooth® service by pressing Copy and Continue
- Paste the code into the Bluetooth Pairing Request pop-up
- A message will appear letting you know Phone As A Key setup is complete
Note: You will also be reminded to set a backup start passcode that allows you to start your vehicle if you are unable to use your phone as a key. You can do that by following these steps:
- Enter your vehicle with your phone and key fob, and start it with your foot off the brake
- Backup passcode setup will appear on your touchscreen
- Create a code with a minimum of eight characters. You can also set a keypad code for keyless entry
Note: If a backup start passcode has not been set up within five start-ups, you’ll need to go into Vehicle Settings and select Setup
