What should I do if I receive a "Pairing failed" message for Phone As A Key?

If you attempt to pair Phone As A Key™* with your mobile device and receive a "Pairing failed" message, troubleshoot using the steps below.

  1. Start your vehicle in an open, well-ventilated, and safe area.
  2. Toggle your mobile device's Bluetooth® off/on and attempt to set up Phone As A Key again. 

    Note: If your issue is resolved, do not continue with the remaining steps. 
     
  3. Delete any keys installed on your phone that you are attempting to pair, and attempt to set up Phone As A Key again.

    Note: If your issue is resolved, do not continue with the remaining steps. 
     
  4. Perform a Phone As A Key reset and attempt to set up Phone As A Key again.

If you continue to receive the error message, contact Ford app support for additional assistance.
