How do I change SYNC®* Connectivity Settings?

To use the available remote features such as Remote Start, Lock, or Unlock, you will need to ensure that the Connectivity Settings in your vehicle are enabled. To learn how to enable or adjust your Connectivity Settings, select the appropriate drop-down option below.

Changing Connectivity Settings

Note: You can confirm your SYNC generation through the SYNC and Navigation Updates page by entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or logging in with your Ford credentials and selecting Check for Update. Your SYNC Generation will appear under "SYNC Current Version". 

SYNC 4A

To change the Connectivity Settings with SYNC 4A:

  1. Press the Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Press Settings.
  3. Select Connectivity.
  4. Choose Connected Vehicle Features.
  5. Toggle Vehicle Connectivity to your preference (ON or OFF).

We recommend keeping Vehicle Connectivity toggled to ON for the best update experience.

SYNC 4

To change the Connectivity Settings with SYNC 4:

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Press Connectivity.
  3. Choose Connectivity Vehicle Features.

  4. Toggle Vehicle Connectivity to your preference (ON or OFF).

SYNC 3

To change the Connectivity Settings with SYNC 3:

  1. Turn on your vehicle and remain in park in a safe, well-ventilated area.
  2. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC 3 screen.
  3. Select FordPass®** Connect.
  4. Tap Connectivity Settings.
  5. Ensure all Connectivity Settings are enabled to access all FordPass®*** features.
  6. To disable, slide the buttons to Off.

*Don’t drive while distracted. Use voice-operated systems when possible; don’t use handheld devices while driving. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.

**FordPass Connect (optional on select vehicles), the Ford Pass App, and Complimentary Connected Service are required for remote features (see FordPass Terms and Conditions for details). Connected Service and features depend on compatible AT&T network availability. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features. Connected Service excludes Wi-Fi hotspot.
