How do I change the Wi-Fi hotspot name and password in my Ford?

You can modify your vehicle's Wi-Fi® hotspot* name and password using SYNC®**  or Digital Experience®† system.

Changing Your Wi-Fi Hotspot Password

Select Digital Experience or your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to change your Wi-Fi hotspot name and password. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.

Digital Experience

  1. Tap the Apps Drawer icon (e.g., six dots) on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Hotspot.
  3. Press Settings.
  4. Either:
    • Press Change Password and enter your new password.
    • Press Network Name and enter your new Wi-Fi hotspot name.
  5. Save your changes.

SYNC 4A

  1. Tap the Settings or Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Connectivity.
  3. Scroll to the Vehicle Hotspot. 
  4. Choose Edit.
  5. Either:
    1. Press Change Password and enter your new password.
    2. Press Network Name and enter your new Wi-Fi hotspot name.
  6. Select Done.

SYNC 4

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Connectivity.
  3. Press Connected Vehicle Features.
  4. Choose Edit.
  5. Tap Change Password.
  6. Either:
    1. Press Change Password and enter your new password.
    2. Press Network Name and enter your new Wi-Fi hotspot name.
  7. Select Done.

SYNC 3

  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select either Wi-Fi & Hotspot or FordPass Connect.
  3. Press Settings.
  4. Choose Edit.
  5. Tap Change SSID Name.
  6. Enter your SSID Name. This is the name of your vehicle's Wi-Fi hotspot. 
  7. Press Done. 
  8. Select Change Password.
  9. Create a password.
  10. Choose Done.
