How do I unlock my Ford vehicle without a key?

If you locked your keys inside your vehicle and a spare key is not available, you may still be able to unlock your vehicle using the Ford app, your keyless entry code, or Roadside Assistance. 

Unlocking Your Vehicle

Select the method you are using from the drop-down options below to learn how to unlock your vehicle without a key.

Remote Unlock Using the Ford App

If you previously downloaded the Ford app and activated your vehicle's modem, you can remotely unlock your vehicle by completing the following steps.

  1. Log in to the Ford app.
  2. Ensure the correct vehicle is chosen (if you have more than one vehicle added to the app).
  3. Scroll down and tap the Unlock button.

    Note: Depending on your app version, the button will either have an unlock icon and the word "Unlock" or only the icon.

A check mark will display on the tapped icon when the command is executed successfully.

Keyless Entry Code (If Equipped)

The keyless entry code lets you unlock the vehicle's doors by using your 5-digit entry code. Enter your 5-digit code to unlock the driver's door. 

Note: The factory-set 5-digit keyless entry code may be provided on a wallet-sized card with the Owner’s Manual for your vehicle. Beginning with 2024 model-year vehicles, this card may not be provided. Roadside Assistance

If you are unable to unlock your vehicle, contact Roadside Assistance using the Roadside Assistance app or calling toll free at 1-800-665-2006. Roadside Assistance is included with your vehicle's New Vehicle Limited Warranty and Powertrain Warranty. It is also included with certain ​Ford Protect Extended Service Plans​.

Note: Ford cannot remotely unlock a vehicle.
